The cognitive/ consumer perspective as brand equity, brand valuation from the financial/ owner perspective and economic value while selling the American Dream had been critically considered by many.

The term of American  Dream as a phrase referring to every person having the freedom and opportunity  to succeed and attain a better life was popularized in 1931 by James Truslow Adams( Epic of America) in an exercise in myth building with  a business model cultural narrative mostly exaggerated to build brand value and distinction. An artificial  cultural identify which made Americans special and their visionaries  in a scalable system was a narrative strategy which was meant to justify economic inequality where the structural barriers like race, class, education had no meaning. The bald eagle which actually was a  bird of prey feeding on flesh as a predator was portrayed as a symbol of freedom, strength and integrity in founding father myth. False Awakening being a dream about waking up and waking state glimpses into alternate realities which require emotional regulation, avoiding choice paralysis due to overwhelming number of options with satisficing and limited accessibility to all possible worlds is a part of developing tolerance to uncertainty in adopting sovietal constraints.

At the individual psychological level body image formation and clothing to be a message about identity and social roles, the colonial mindset kept 20th Century fashion function as the West’s subtle instrument of cultural power. In 1929 the first Academy Awards called Oscars were given at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel located at Hollywood Boulevard by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences,a professional honorary organization in Beverly Hills located Southwest of Hollywood Hills . The requirement for a nomination was release in Los Angeles County and it soon developed a media hype in a manufactured prestige even though marketing, lobbying and institutional bias in what was considered Academy type. Coloured films and wide screen format emerged which came to be challenged by home viewing with the arrival of TV in 1950’s. The Monument  Of Ambition as Hollywood Walk Of Fame with stars embedded in the sidewalk of fifteen blocks of Hollywood Boulevard  and three blocks of Vine Street in Hollywood District of Los Angeles, California, USA formally began in 1960 when the first stars were placed. It was a poor attempt at presenting psychodynamics and power dynamics  of audience dominance in stepping over the stars on the sidewalk. Then the digital era arrived changing home viewing itself. An adult film industry had begun almost immediately after invention of motion picture in the form of erotic risque fims and became more explicit over time,their growth lay  in easily acessiblity driven by technology( internet, mobile). They  became a multi billion sector with US dominance. The lost reality manifested in two persona as public and private due to inability to tolerate frustration. It created unrealistic expectations impacting real rellationships but masked depression and cognitive affective distress. The element of voyeuristic disorder could be a secret observation for power, control or connections replacing direct intimacy and risk of actual engagement.The cultural irrelevance of Oscars and industry accolades whose ceremonies were events with a lot of pecking on cheeks drawing a social boundary to display of affections and ritualustic walking the red carpet which tapped into the desire for recognition, exhibitionism with curated fashion would be clear as the superficially attractive illusion shattered. Intense and strategic lobbying, marketing campaigns with targeted trade advertisements boosting films visibility to influence more than 8500+ voters of this Academy. However, mainstream cinema  would still be a force and Hollywood dominated.

With darkened theatres creating a dream like state through projected image and sound with an immersive narrative with the potential of making the audience susceptible to projections, they soon became tools of mass manipulation. The high risk startup environment of funding in the film industry and the revenues from box office, home entertainment and streaming it had a strong impact on the economy and provided employment.

Manufactured stardom based on persona which subdued craft, the film star was a commodity  to sell products as movies, music albums, fashion and other merchandise. A Celebrity Industrial Complex evolved with media as producers and 24/7  coverage loop of constant media attention. This manufactured image was not a reality but a paradox in terms of being extraordinary as well as relatable. The entire exercise was a manipulation. Internalizing the character in the role in reversal process these actors worked through anxiety and identity issues. Being watched, filmed and manipulated for an audience often caused delusions of grandeur and provided a framework for underlying mental illness where performance itself became a stage for exploring identity, sublimations beside the performance anxiety caused more distress. These delusions of grandeur or under performing  could lead to drug abuse or aggressiveness. Highlighting a specific performer’s star quality  presented a certain way of living, acting and dressing. The performer’s were also an economic asset. Superstar were those who could influence spectator emotions as personalities with a box office power. From performance the focus had shifted to box office economics of financial success with the uncertainity and unpredicability of audience choice and quality threshhold. Terror of box office still resulted in the feature film blockbuster phenomenon without engaing with popular vernacular films  was not in randomness but an engineered, high budget and widely marketed entertainment product. The fandom as a complex psychological phenomenon fulfilling needs akin to childhood play and safe space for emotional expression emerged.  Viewers Experience through  the language of possibilities could not be ignored.

Mass appeal in its unfulfilled promises, a unique artform distinct from reality   while exploiting libidinal and emotional energy with a possible thrill, conflicts, dislocation and violence, films  had potential for mass manipulation as audience turned into echo chambers for harmful stereotypes or negative behaviours communicated through them.  By generating  shared experiences, shared culture and shifting popular opinion with relatable characters and common narrative that united diverse audience. The reward of recognition by winning and acknowledgement  of the win stirs emotions.It predictably won Oscar in 2009 in USA.  It’s  music composer, a person by the name of A R Rahman performed the song Jai Ho wirh its patchwork musical score at Nobel Peace Prize Comcert 2010.  Soon most actors, producers from film industry started gaining recognition with highest civilian awards from established governments.Political platforms leveraging hope and ambitions, a social prestige with media driven celebrity culture of fascination with  famous individuals and their personal lives got entrenched with privacy invasion of those with manufactured personality. Identity forming in the image culture combined with consumer culture through changes brought about by mass media innovations was changing things. Glamour Quotient Space for attractiveness stereotypes and influencing the behaviour of audiences through visual persuasion added a level of aspirations for the audience.  Makeup and grooming influenced self perception. Soothing the skin ego  as the skin primar boundary of self with the external world, skin as a store of tactile information, skincare could provide a second skin as artificial barrier. Cosmetics moved beyond fixing perceived flaws and surface beauty to neuro-cosmetics understanding the skin brain connection and even controlling sebum and moisture for controlled skin experience. Skin not being a passive barrier but an active biological  tissue and electrical activity which responds to internal physiological and environmental changes. As signal for cortisol production is sent from pituary gland to adrenal gland an axis forms. Skin barrier integrity is lost and ot becomes necessary to de-stress the skin. These reality shows were cost effective with lower costs than scripted serials and revenue was generated through high TRP( Television Rating Point) the key metric in broadcasting industry which brought  further advertising, product branding, sponsorship and licensing for streaming. Viewers voyeurism in observing intimate relationship and conflicts of others in purportedly unscripted/soft scripted real life situations was at best chaotic in those which were competition based. It became a political phenomenon with voting by viewers. Participants could become instant celebrities for a short period but the effect would linger through curated mass media.

First Fashion Shows using live models took place in Paris in 1860’s with a designer Charles Fredric Worth. It spread American Department Stores by 1903. Uptil then only mannequins were used in clothing stores.Streamlined silhouette of fashion and design a large economy around it had emerged. The media curated realities with market idols and their marketability seemed to fuel the desire to fit into the created aspirations as an obsession, it impacted identity formation with low self esteem,body image issues and depression at times. The new kind of idolatry with obsessive fascination or hyper-fixation with famous people in fantasy escapism had an addictive effect with the level of absorption as seeking celebrities  for entertainment/ social, intense personal and borderline pathological. Production and turnover of celebrities was a part of its cultural economics. The commercialized cultural production with symbolic capital required an infransructure.A celebrity worship dimension as sub dimension of social interaction dimension often curled up into a distorted reality or warped psychology due to manipulation could cause thinking in loops. It had a non contact force fuelling the syndrome with combination of hyperactive neural circuits, neurochemical imbalances and cognitive patterns trapped in a dysfunction loop for an individual. Hyperactivity in Cortico Striato Thalamo Cortical Loop of the brain which prefers predictability, uncertainty  triggers  obsession which are intrusive for the individual. The brain distinguishes hallucination from reality from the strength of sensory signals in brain ares like the fusiform gyrus comparing it internal reality threshold and coordinates it with frontal regions for judgment. Film censorship and regulation  for moral, political and social reasons followed considering the influence on vulnerable audiences. The lifestyle driven by the American Dream as collective illusion masking a underlying anxieties in a success oriented consumerist society always needed an external validation. The metaphorical American Beauty portrayed by Hollywood about decay beneath the perfect suburbanism of family focuseed life and culture was not so exclusive and mixed walkable developemts were the solution as the urban glitter was fading.

Human laws and human derivations of natural laws governing physical universe being a cultural product, they start shaping the society itself by refining the production function. The audience of religion was categorized on basis of beliefs and was diverse with global adherents.
